New premises for FAR

In August 2006, our supplier of laboratory fittings FAR, will be opening it’s new premises. Due to the steadily growing demand for FAR laboratory fittings over the last couple of years, larger production facilities and warehouses are required to make sure that all orders can be processed in an efficient way.
At the same time, the major part of the engine compound will be modernised. With these steps, FAR makes sure that they will be ready for the future.
The removal will take place in August, which is normally the holiday period in Italy. The production will be resumed from the first week of September. Both FAR and Steendam will do their best to make sure that the removal will not cause any delays in delivery times. We will increase our stock level of FAR taps, to try accommodate any inconveniences, should they occur.
We ask you to check what your requirements for FAR fittings could be during this period and make sure you will be placing your orders in time (end of June).

Bradley Concealed Eyeshower

Bradley introduces a range of eyeshowers which can be flush mounted in a wall.
The concealed eyeshowers offer a space saving and aesthetically pleasing solution, and keep the alleys free from obstacles. The units are fully accessible from a wheelchair to people with physical disabilities.
The cabinet is made of stainless steel. The eyewash activates by pulling the cabinet door down. A gas spring softens the action of opening the unit. The waste water is collected by the door assembly and is directed back into the wall for drainage. There is also a combined bodyshower and eyeshower available.
On this unit, the showerhead will be built into the ceiling.

Separator for Sediments

The separators for sediments prevent stopping up of the waste water drainage pipes. The heavy parts in the waste water, such as sand, clay, gypsum, coffee-grounds, will settle in the internal bucket of the separator and not in the drainage pipes. 50_0900_A1.jpg
This saves on maintenance costs and trouble caused by waste water which does not flow away. Maintenance of the separators is very easy.
Emptying and cleaning the internal bucket periodically is all that is required. The separators are specially designed to fit under a workbench or in a cupboard, near to the sink. A set of quick-connection-couplings is included to provide for an easy installation and/or disconnection of the unit.
The units are made of polypropylene, which is a durable and easy-to-clean material. A stainless steel metal support with castors is offered as an option. This can be helpful if the unit needs to be moved when filled.
Standard available dimensions are 300x350mm, 400x400mm and 600x600mm. Special dimensions can be produced on demand.

Colour coding for laboratory fittings

Many clients already use our webshop to find detailed information about specific products. Additional background information about the different brands we offer can be found by using the link BRANDS.
For each brand, a lot of information is available, such as information about the producer, technical details, material specifications, norms etcetera. For instance, if you go to FAR, you will find a PDF-file with the colour coding of the laboratory fittings according to the latest European norm.
This norm, EN 13792, has gone into effect from 1st of January 2002, and is used by FAR on all laboratory fittings. As a suggestion, you could print this file and add it to your documentation, or display it on a clearly visible place in your laboratory.

We trust the information in this newsletter will be of use to you.
